Wondering if anyone uses Square for their gym, in regards to booking classes, memberships, packages, etc? We are looking to switch and wondering if it will work for what we need
Hi @JustMoveFitness 😊 Welcome to the Square Community! My name is Violet and I'm one of the Moderators here 👋
Happy to hear you're considering Square for your business! Based on the info you've provided, Square Appointments would be the best fit for you. With Square Appointments, your clients can book online, including packages. Would you be selling any retail items too?
I'll tag in a few of our Square Champions who use Square Appointments so they can offer their feedback and experience here as well ✨ @SiBellebeauty @nell_a @Doran

@JustMoveFitness I am a solopreneur offering Essentrics classes (in-person and via Zoom). My business model is much simpler than a gym's business model. I have my own website (built on WordPress), so I am not using Square Online.
I need to sell class passes and allow my clients to book classes online either after purchasing a class pass or paying for a single class with their credit card. And of course, I don't want to manage class capacity manually. I started a free trial of Square Appointments Plus just a few days ago. My findings so far are:
- the functionality for classes vs. appointments is limited;
- my class schedule can not be presented in a calendar view on the booking site. I can see it in the calendar view on the back end, but not on the client facing booking site;
- class recurrence functionality seems to be limited, for example, I could not figure out how to create a schedule where a class would repeat every Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu and Fri till the end of June. I had to create a Monday class, and set the repeat option to "weekly", and then do the same for the other 4 days of the week;
- I was unable to adjust the class name. Due to how the classes are displayed on the client booking site, I realized (too late) that "Zoom" and "In-Person" should be included in the class name. Even after I cancelled the classes (deleted the schedule), I was unable to find where to update the name of the class or how to delete the classes with "insufficient" names.
I am yet to dive into class passes (packages).
I saw posts by other fitness business owners who said that they continue using Acuity Scheduling because some of the features are yet to be available in Square.
It would be great to hear feedback from the owners of other fitness businesses. I hope to be proved wrong about my early observations of Square Appointments.
@JustMoveFitness I wanted to share the recent discovery about Classes, which is a show stopper for me, unless someone from the Community shares a workaround. Online scheduling settings work for Appointments, but not for Classes. The biggest gap is the "Appointments must be made at least ... hours/days in advance" setting. I have a class that stars in 3 hours from now, and it is still available on my booking flow page to be booked. It was confirmed by @Sammie_C that this setting indeed applies to appointments but not to classes.
