Embarrassing

It's the second time in just a few months that the Square Reader breaks and shows as damaged in front of my clients. Embarrassing 🤦The second replacement didn't last even one transaction. I am starting to think that this system is unreliable and doesn't make my company look professional... 😕 I am not doing anything strange with my reader, just left on the desk. Any suggestions? Why it's so flimsy? Is anyone else experiencing this?

Hey @DaniFango, welcome to the community. Really sorry to hear about your Reader breaking so quickly!

Sometimes, it can happen that your Square Reader is no longer functioning correctly due to a failsafe we’ve put in place. To ensure that you and your customers are protected, we have built physical security measures directly into your chip and PIN card reader. Unfortunately, these security measures can sometimes be triggered by accident, such as via rough handling or dropping Square Reader, resulting in the device becoming deactivated.

I can understand how frustrating it is when your Reader does not work as intended. I'll be sure to pass your feedback to the relevant team so that they can take it into consideration to improve our products.

Once a Square Reader has been deactivated, the only way to get back up and running is to have the device replaced under warranty. To submit a warranty claim, I'd advise calling our customer service team on 0800 098 8008. They will advise on warrantying your device. for you. Our lines are open from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Let me know if you need anything else!
