Online ordering - categories placement on page

Hello!

For online ordering I have seen sites that have the navigation categories on the left side rather than within the header.

How is that done?

Hey @AnniesSeafood So, your post doesn't have enough information for me to be able to give you exact information.  But, I'll make an assumption based on your screen name, which implies to me you are a restaurant/food service business?

If so, or are you using the new Ordering Profile page that was built specifically for F&B operations, or are you using a legacy Square Online online ordering page?  If you are using the Ordering Profile, the answer is that you can't do that currently.  You'd need to submit a feature request for the team to consider.

If you are using the legacy Square Online page for your store, you are most likely using the "Order Online" template.  You COULD change that template to the "Shop All" template, but you'd need to be aware that this template is not built nor optimized for F&B operations.  If you want to give it a test run, you can edit your Order Online's page settings and there is a change template option.  I would do this during your down-time and test it thoroughly because, as I said, this template is retail-oriented.

Yes we're F&B.

Our categories all appear across the top of the site and the other site I'm looking at has their categories on the left side.

Theirs looks like this:

Browse by category

All Items

Category1

Category2

Category3

etc

They're also F&B and maybe that's what they're doing.

I also see another really big difference between their site and ours ... is that on our site when I click on an item a pop-up appears with the pic etc.

Theirs goes to a PAGE and all their options for modifiers etc are all down the right side with checkboxes.

Does that sound like they're using the retail version?

Where are the template settings pls? I can only seem to edit elements not the entire site itself. It isn't within site preferences.

TIA
