Hi- congrats on your business! We too are in the Atlanta area, producing peach, apple, and blueberry cobblers. www.auntevelynspeachcobbler.com. We partner with other shops and markets that sell ice cream. Let me know if we can help. 877-577-9933.

I love how you have your square webpage set up! So you created categories and have different flavors under the category. So modifiers we’re created for the flavor/categories? I’m thinking of changing my square register but don’t have time. I’m thinking about hiring the square expert. When you have time can you explain your square pos set up? Thanks

Hi Kellibain,

I am curious about your timing for this question. Did you really see our square webpage set up or this was a generic question to the entire community? I am new to this community so not sure how this question was so well timed, we literally just set up our menu yesterday....

Hi!  In the ITEMS section of Square, we created a new Item Category called ONLINE ORDER then created each flavor/item we offer on the website under that category.  When you create the website under the ONLINE tab, you create the category links then you assign the different items to one or more categories.  It is tedious to assign and sort the items within each category.  Hopefully you dont have hundreds of items.  LOL   Once there, you can turn items on and off by location from within the ITEMS tab without ever needing to visit/update the website.  HOWEVER, if you turn an item off for all locations (we have 2 locations), we found that the items were dropping off the website and we had to go in and re-add them every time.  To get past that, we created a 3rd location we simply call WEBSITE.  Assign ALL items to be available at that "location".  Then when you turn them on and off for your true location(s), they remain on the website in their assigned categories and sort order.

Regarding the Square Register POS screen, we do NOT keep track of ice cream flavors.  We have one simple screen that has buttons (ITEMS) for Dish, Wafer Cone, Sugar Cone, Waffle Cone, Shakes, Sundaes, and a couple other items.  Under each item, we have variations for serving sizes (1 scoop, 2 scoop, 3 scoop, small, large, etc).  You can also attach ADD ONS under these for toppings.

Hopefully this helps!  It takes some trial and error and tweaking but I did it with no previous web design experience.

Sofie’s Scoops Gelateria here! www.sofiesscoops.com We are in Olympia, Washington, source our dairy from a nearby farm, use all original recipes and make from scratch. I haven’t joined NICRA but am interested. How do you like it? Are there any other ice cream organizations you like?

It is totally worth the price.  I haven't been as interactive as a would like but they have gone to recorded podcast. The podcast are so dope and include business from all over the country and Canada.  Alot of excellent information and encouragement.  We also make all of our bases from scratch.

I haven't found any other ones but I'm sure they are out there.  A few facebook pages/groups out there as well.   So glad to associate myself with you guys on this community!!  I've never been to Washington state.  Now I have somewhere to visit.

That’s so helpful, thank you I’ll have to check them out again. I love a good podcast.  Seeing as though you also make your bases, do you or have you thought about wholesaling to local grocers? We have been asked by the co-ops and small grocers in our town but it seems daunting as far as labeling goes. Have you gone through that process?

I am a chemist by trade. I have a skin and haircare product company so I’m somewhat familiar with labeling. I have not explored those possibilities of whole selling the base at all. It would be a great source of revenue. I have hosted ice cream social events in Williams Sonoma and sold bases to customers for regular ice cream machines. You got me thinking now 🙂
