Hi everyone — I run a clothing retail business and have been using Square for over 5 years. I create hundreds of SKUs daily, most with multiple variants (sizes/colors).
Prior to the recent update, I could edit the unit price and cost for all variants at once directly within the item page. With the new item editor, this is no longer possible — I now have to update each variant individually.
This change dramatically impacts my workflow because:
I lose hours of time every day
There’s a high risk of accidentally missing a variant
Incorrect prices can go to checkout, leading to financial loss
The bulk import tool is not practical for real-time in-app price updates
Can the Square team please:
Bring back the feature to update price/cost across all variants at once?
Add an “apply to all variants” option in the new editor?
Or provide an advanced/legacy editing mode for high-variant sellers?
If this affects your workflow too, I’d appreciate your feedback so this gets more visibility.
Thank you!
I'm having the same problem... really slowing down my workflow. Has anyone figured out any work arounds for this?
I reached out to Square Support about this, and unfortunately they confirmed there’s currently no workaround within the new item editor. They suggested posting here in the Seller Community so the product/engineering team can see the feedback directly. I was told that if the post gains enough traction, it increases the chances of the feature being reviewed.
We strongly agree! This is just one of the changes that square has initiated that has greatly slowed down our workflow. As correctly stated above, the chances of missing a variation within an item is high. Incorrect entry not only has an effect at checkout, but in reports. Like projected profits, cost of goods sold etc.
