Square Appointments should allow staff to use a Square card reader when adding a customer's card for No-Show Protection.
We require No-Show Protection on all appointments. The vast majority of our appointments are booked online by customers, so this isn't an issue for those bookings.
The problem occurs when a customer is physically in front of us and we create the appointment for them. Square currently requires us to manually enter the card number, expiration date, CVV, and billing ZIP code to add the card for No-Show Protection.
This is unnecessarily time-consuming when the customer has a physical card present and we already have a Square card reader sitting at the front desk.
Feature request: When adding a card for No-Show Protection during appointment creation, give staff the option to tap, insert, or swipe the customer's card using a Square reader rather than requiring manual card-number entry.
This would make the in-person booking process substantially faster and reduce unnecessary manual entry and the potential for keying errors.
The card doesn't need to be charged. We simply need a card-present method of securely adding the customer's card for the existing No-Show Protection requirement.
This seems like a relatively straightforward and useful addition to Square Appointments, particularly for businesses that take appointments in person.
Please consider adding this functionality.
