I have an educational consignment store in a historic building in Hillsdale, MI, on Square POS and Weebly Web Store at www.knowledgeemporium.net. We're a low-budget startup using Rose for Square as a Consignor Database tied to our POS. We are trying to get serious about our online listings, as web sales are the only way our shop will ever survive - our little home town just can't produce the foot traffic that would be needed to make it go. So my bride works there, essentially volunteering her time, as we can't even afford the mortgage, let alone a paycheck for any staff based on our walk-in brick-and-mortar clientele, be they ever so wonderful. With over 10,000 stock items, mostly unique, and mostly books, as it stands we need to take a picture and look up product descriptions per-item and then edit-copy-and-paste in order to provide more than a title, author, publisher product listing for our web store. With a steady stream of new consignors bringing in stock, we'd never get them all done.
Online bookstore and personal library databases have robust resources in "isbn Lookup", which at a barcode scan produces an image of the book and sometimes select pages like the Title Page as well as descriptions and sometimes even reviews. As a bolt-on to Square, this function would revolutionize our intake process from hours to minutes for a new consignor with, say, 100 titles.
Consignor splits and visibility for consignors to see their sales and accumulated available payouts would be a great benefit as well, and without having to pay Rose for Square to get those things, I could see paying Square more for the added functionality, and have one less interface to manage.
Thanks,
David Hambleton, USN - Ret.
