delete appointment instead of canceling

delete appointment instead of canceling

Sometimes there are booking mistakes, like the client is down twice for the same appointment, it would be beneficial to be able to delete appointments instead of cancel them, since this is not the client's fault.

Alternatively, if we can remove a CANCEL from their profile appointment history, a quick look makes it seem like the client cancels, even though this is not the situation.

Hello, @SDGS

Welcome to our Ideate board!

We appreciate your feedback and understand the importance of managing appointments accurately in situations like booking mistakes. While Square Appointments currently allows cancellations to maintain a clear history, we recognize that there's room for improvement.

Your suggestion with our development team is visible on this platform. They will review the possibility of introducing a feature to delete appointments once more Square sellers provide their use case, for now this post will stay as "Open". One of our community moderators will provide an update here once we have more to share.

Your insights are valuable as we strive to enhance the Square Appointments experience. If you have any further suggestions or if there's anything else you'd like to share, please feel free to let us know. We're here to assist and appreciate your input in making our services better.

Implementing such a system could potentially lead to heightened concerns about theft and decreased trust among staff and team members. It's crucial to ensure that everything remains traceable and accountable in order to maintain transparency and integrity. I think current way is correct

I agree this needs to be addressed. I have clients who accidentally get double booked or other situations where I need to remove someone’s appointment for my own reasons, and it needs to be simply removed , not look like this client bailed, when that is not the situation at all. It messes up the whole integrity of the client history and muddies up the calendar. This is one of the many reasons I hate using square.

OMG Yes please! In my paper calendar I have different notations for changed appointments, canceled, no-shows, rescheduled, or I just erase if I make a mistake. This feature missing from Square is one of the main reasons I still keep a paper calendar! Not everything is just cancel. Sometimes I just goof up.

I've been wishing there was a delete option, not only for mistakes and people who cancel within policy time frames, if we ever have to cancel or people who accidentally make multiple accounts and end up booking multiple appointments through said accounts so everything is all messed up. But even just to clear up my past years of all the old appointments. it's nice to have the option to delete things.

I just transferred to square and can not believe how non user friendly it is! Sometimes we need to delete but need to track actual cancellations for client record. We need vo have a delete option so when we make mistakes it is not tarnishing the clients record.

This would be incredibly useful for us, because there isn't any functionality available to merge appointments at checkout. We are left with merging appointments manually and cancelling the extraneous appointments when clients pay together. It results in an innaccurate log of our appointment schedule and our clients' booking history.

I totally agree. Square needs to know that for us Appointments users, there IS a difference between Cancelled and Deleted. Also, it would be nice to be able to choose a Cancellation reason.  In the past I used SalonBiz and you could customize your cancellation reasons, like “same day”, “child policy”, “sick”, “no show”, etc.

I would also like an option to delete as an alternative to cancelling. I would use “delete” instead of “cancel” anytime I wanted to cancel appointments without penalty to the client, or in cases where I made an error. For customers, this makes it more obvious when viewing upcoming and past appointments, which appointments they have paid for or need to plan to pay for. I noticed that cancelled classes still appear on the customer log in / profile view and you have to click to open the class to see that it’s cancelled. Otherwise it appears the same in the list / indistinguishable from currently scheduled classes. Hope @sayra and the square team can get this option set up for us, @LusterSalon & @SDGS @anniemcg @cb90
