Party Rentals

Hello!  I currently use square for my party rental business and I love it!  However there is one feature that can make this work so much better for this industry.  Is there some way to allow customers to place their orders online based on date and inventory availability?

Hi there @Itsafiesta 👋 Thank you for submitting your request to the Square Online Ideate Board 💡

I'm happy to help but will need some more detail in order to better understand your question.

Currently, we do have features that allow for scheduled pickup and delivery orders and when your customers purchase an item online, it will deplete from your stock once they have completed their order so long as you are tracking inventory on that item.

Whenever you have a moment, please reply to this message with a little more information describing your request. It would also be helpful if you could explain your business and setup so I can get a better idea of what your needs are 🙂  I’ll keep an eye out for your reply!

I think I understand what the OP is asking. We have items that we rent as well in our florist business and I have not been able to find a work around for keeping track using square online as the "sales" platform.

As an example: If I have 6 bases for wedding arches, for rentals I need to be able to account for the dates they will be unavailable for a customer to rent. If, on Monday,  I rent (in square it's a "sale") 2 for Wednesday, 2 Thursday and 2 Friday, I'm effectively out of stock - but not really. I still have 6 available for Sunday (assuming the rentals all come back as scheduled). I can "add inventory" when they come back into the shop, but may not have them as actual on-hands if another customer wants to place a rental order on Monday.  I think this is a very technical "upgrade" and like I said, I have not figured out any really workable online work-arounds. I usually do contracts/invoices for these types of "sales".

I’ve been in the same boat needing smoother booking tools, especially for rentals tied to specific dates. While waiting on Square to roll something out, I set up a simple workaround using calendar blocks and item stock limits. It’s not perfect, but it keeps double-booking away. For inspiration, I modeled some of my flow after how I rent out gear through https://sizzleyourevents.com/popcorn-machine-rental-montreal/, which keeps scheduling pretty clean on my end.
