Below is an issue we observed while reviewing the Order detail export file.
Observation
We want to compare the shipping amounts we collect from customers to our actual shipping costs we have negotiated with our carriers. To perform the comparison, we would:
1. Download Square Order detail.
2. Download the Carrier's shipping detail (e.g., FedEx, UPS, USPS, etc.).
3. Join both files using a unique identifier to produce a report.
In this case, the unique identifier would be the "Carriers's Tracking" number. However, we have discovered that Square's export files does not include the Carriers's Tracking number; therefore, we are unable to join together the files.
Why do we want to do this?
To perform a cost analysis. For example, if we collected from a customer $8.00 for shipping and it actually costs us $9.00, we would have under-collected shipping and would need to make adjustments in our pricing.
Therefore, by adding the Carrier's Name and the Tracking numbers to Square's export file, it would allow us to complete our internal cost analysis.
Recommendation
Please add the Carrier's Name and Tracking Number to the CSV download file.
