So Square came out with the GTIN field.
Then added We looked up GTIN and here is the Name to use. Square then Changed the name of the Item automatically. This was not good because some of the Names Square found were way off. For example Face Your Fun was found instead of a 12oz DR Thunder can of soda/pop.

So I added some items with my own names, waiting for the GTIN lookup to be fixed and not assigning the WRONG name completely. So Square has addressed this for New Items but now I can not see if What I entered, may have a better naming of the same item. For Example I have a Red Medium T-shirt, but Squares GTIN Look up may have Red Medium T-shirt by XYS with Image of a Bear.
So my Ideate is when a Business has an Item or even a NEW item, and we scan the GTIN. Have a Pop Up that shows the Current Item name, The GTIN name that was found and a Blank to enter your own name. The Pop Up Box could be similar to an Item when the Same SKU or GTIN is used at a point of sale in Square.
By letting the business choose which Name to apply, Square would not be Invasely Changing the name of the item.
So basically in my above example after scanning a GTIN for an item that had no GTIN or a New Item that had a Name entered in an earlier step we woul get:
POP UP
Then the Business can click on one of the 3 to confirm which Item name to use or Enter a Custom Name as per thier naming.
I think this would give businesses the option to keep or discard a Name Suggested by scanning of the GTIN into the GTIN Field.
