ID Scanning for age-restricted products

Having the ability to require an ID for age-restricted products would be a game changer for many businesses that sell products like alcohol. This could perfectly integrate into the Square apps as well as the Square Register. Using a barcode scanner or the device’s camera, barcodes could be scanned super fast.

A “employee override” button would be nice where they could input their pin if they can tell the customer is over the age restriction (likely 21).

This would be a game changed to scan an ID for items. We run a large liquor store and are adding a second location. The whole country has issues with fake IDs and square being able to scan an ID to catch things like this would be amazing!

This is a great suggestion! We operate using a Square Register and sell hundreds of canned alcoholic beverages every night.

Currently, our employees have to manually enter the date of birth each time....if the barcode on the back of a drivers license could be scanned instead, this would be a HUGE time saver. 

It is interesting that this feature works using the Retail app on my iPhone, but not on the Square Register POS...

Would love to see this feature added to the Register POS!
