Enhanced tip outs

Tip Distribution by Sales Category

Some restaurants distribute total tip earnings by assigning percentages of sales to different job roles. For example, bartenders might receive 5% of bar sales as their share of tips. If the bar generates $10,000 in sales during a shift, then 5%—or $500—would be allocated to bartenders, to be divided among those working that shift.

Hey there @HPTest.. I'm sure that a Square person will get back to you about this soon.  There was a time that I thought this was in the works -- at least being planned.  But obviously either I was wrong or it was abandoned for some reason.  Anyway, I wanted to make you aware of a third-party app called TipHaus that is available in the Square App Marketplace.  It has a ridiculous number of ways to define tip out rules for both the front and back of house.  It's not exactly a cheap subscription, but considering the number of hours you can save not having to manipulate spreadsheets every week, I think it is worth the cost.  Honestly, as Square continues to enhance tipping distribution, I'm expecting that function not to be free to much longer, or at least that certain enhanced features (like this one) will be implemented in paid tiers.  There's a lot of computing and server resources used for this sort of stuff.

Anyway, check out TipHaus while you wait.  It could be the immediate solution you need.

i built a stand alone app to solve this. I didn’t want to do the spread sheet method as it leads to entry errors and a waste of time. We have a fairly complex tipout system. tiphaus, 7 shifts and kickfin have solutions. They are pricey and typically involve yet another employee app. great for transparency, but they lead to charging either you or the staff to get their money. I wanted an easier basic solution. All i need to do is upload the shifts report and item sales report for the week and it does all the math instantly. Would be happy to tell you more.
