Custom Payment Types

We have some local programs that provide certificates (redeemable as cash) to be used at participating merchants in our area.  Ideally, we could apply these as a custom payment type that we could set up on the back end with a recognizable name.  Currently we have to utilize the "Other" payment type as a catch all.  This isn't ideal as multiple types of payments could show up here on any given day and makes closing out the day a challenge.  Because of this, we also aren't able to report on these payment types to see how often they are being utilized.

In the payment methods report, checks are finally sorted separately from "Other" yay! But when you use payment methods to build your own report, they are still lumped together. Please can checks show separately in the payment methods section when you build your own report? It defeats the purpose of using it when I have to pull the payment methods report separately.

Hi @acscoutshop , that’s an excellent feature request. We appreciate you sharing your business use case and why it would be valuable for you. If you know of any fellow Seller Community members who would like to see this built out as well, feel free to tag them in your post so they can share their thoughts as well! The more sellers chime in to the request, the more likely it is to catch our product team's eye.

I definitely aree. It doesn't make sense that I can mark it as a check, but then it goes nowhere after that since it's still grouped as "other" and have to go through everything during tax season.

I would like to 2nd this feature request.  We have 'chamber bucks', as well as our own tokens and tokens from another business that we accept for payments.  Having custom payment types allows for much easier tracking and reporting of these.
