Automatically Hide Out of Stock Items

We have a business with a HUGE inventory - we can't always keep up on restocking items on a timely manner/ a lot of our items are seasonal. Automatically hiding our out-of-stock items on our website would make square online so much more convenient and user friendly for us.

I have the same problem ever since the latest system upgrades. You used to be able to control this in Item Preferences, but since the upgrades, I don't see that preference option anywhere. I had that preference set before the upgrades and it did work so out-of-stock items were automatically hidden from the site. But now all of those that were hidden automatically on my site are now visible and I have to manually update each item to be hidden. Really frustrating.

I have a similar use case.

A large portion of our sales is through our website.

I have an item that we sell, jars of honey.

The item has two options - size, varietal

Not all honeys are bottled in all the jars.  I might have one in a 6oz jar, a different in a 1-pound jar.

Issue #1 - The website shows all possible combinations of size and varietal.  Even if we untick the box named 'for sale' for a particular size/varietal that we do not carry, the website still shows it online, and shows it as out of stock.  We would like the ability to hide option combinations that we do not sell.

Issue #2 - Even when something sells out, even if we untick the box named 'for sale', it still appears on our website , and shows as out of stock.  Sometimes, it is a limited run, and we want to remove it complete from online when it is sold out.  Sometimes, we want the item to still appear online as 'out of stock' so the customer knows we typically offer it, but need to find/create more.  This solution is the same as issue #1 above.

Agreed. it should be an automatic global setting. Hide all out of stock products.
