Apply Discount Codes to Services in Square Appointments

It would be amazing if we could apply discount codes directly to services in Square Appointments. Right now, it only works for products, which makes running promos for services really awkward. Asking clients to put a code in the notes and applying it manually isn’t a great customer experience.

This would make Appointments way more useful for small businesses like mine. Please add this! 🙏

Promo Codes for Online Appointments

Let clients apply promo codes during online booking, just like they can in Square Online Checkout.

This option, as far as I can tell, has been requested since 2017. I really would love it if you guys could make this option available.

Since this is already an existing feature request, I went ahead and merged your post to an existing thread where other Square Sellers have requested this as well. We merge duplicate conversations together to keep like comments in one place, and to make it easier for others to find the thread in the future. 

The status of this request is currently "Open". This step in the Feature Request process will be a time in which other Square Sellers can add their use cases to your idea to make it stronger and demonstrate further how much it is needed. Later on, we'll re-visit the most popular feature requests in the "Open for Votes" status and bring them to our Product Team.

Violet thanks for your prompt reply. Let me get this straight. After 8 years you still need people to request this b/c there is not enough evidence to support this feature? Unfortunately you are singling out all of the businesses that provide a service and want to give their customers the option to use a coupon or discount code when making an appointment. What would you suggest a work around for this could be?

It sucks that Square still doesn't have this. If you are already doing the coupon code in the message area and applying it in person at checkout workaround, another one is to use credit hold/no-show policy with a payment link. The payment link only works if your customers book far enough ahead to give you time to create them, but you can configure the payment link to accept coupons. A bit more drastic is to move to Acuity which is available in the Square App store . They would completely replace Square Appoinments but Square would still be the payment processor.  Even more drastic would be moving off Square entirely to a service purpose built for service businesses. A quick search will find plenty.  A crazy idea is to sell appointment slots as regular inventory items in Square Online(like Tuesday, 12/2  11AM as a product variation). Customers can use coupons and gift cards since its just a regular item.  You could then create the booking in Appointments so they get the reminders and everything else. Its a ton of work but could be automated with Square's APIs.   

The best would if Square would just build the feature already but until then these workarounds may be helpful

It's a shame they still don't have this feature. All other appointment software does this.
