bulk customer import

I'm trying to import a membership dues paid list for a social club. The import file is a .cvs from an Excel spreadsheet.  don't need all the columns on the downloaded suggested template. Can I simply delete the unnecessary columns on the template before I upload my .csv file? Or must I insert the empty columns into my .cvs file before I upload it into the template that Square provides? The instructions on bulk customer imports are not clear on this.

@Dlavoie233 - You don't have to include all columns from the suggested template. You will have to include at least one column that identifies each customer like a name or a phone or an email.
