Square Customer Directory not identifying duplicates

I'd like to tidy up our extensive customer directory but I've noticed that there are MANY duplicates and Square does not identify them and give me the option to merge.  It is not practical to manually go through tens of thousands of customers looking for duplicates.  Is there ANY reliable way to either prompt Square to identify duplicates, or to pare these down efficiently??

Hi there, @RoasterChica,

Thank you for reaching out. I completely understand how frustrating it can be to manage a large customer directory, especially when duplicates start to pile up. Unfortunately, Square currently doesn’t provide a fully automated way to identify or bulk-merge duplicates across a large list, and manually reviewing tens of thousands of records isn’t practical.  Square allows you to export your entire customer list as a CSV file. Once exported, we can use spreadsheet tools to automatically detect duplicates based on email, phone number, or name. This is much faster and far more accurate than doing it inside Square. Using Excel, Google Sheets, or a script, duplicates can be flagged and merged into a clean, “master” customer list. This lets us standardize data and remove redundant entries in bulk. After the list is cleaned, Square supports re-importing the updated customer file. This helps ensure the directory is consistent and streamlined moving forward. Please let me know if you have any other questions about this!
