Sending estimates and invoices through text message

I use Square invoices to send customers estimates and invoices. I was told by a friend who also used Square long ago that there were restrictions when sending estimates and invoices through text message. so I always asked for the customerโ€™s email address and emailed the estimates and invoices to them.

Iโ€™d like to swing back around and see if there is actually any type of restriction when text messaging estimates and invoices to customers? Any reason not to text them versus email?

it would be easier if I donโ€™t have to deal with their email at all, since currently I talk to all customers through text message anyway.

Usually, in my experience, if you have messaging enabled it allows you to respond from within the platform directly to a question or concern a customer may have before making a payment. Other than that, there is not a restriction on sending an invoice or receipt to a customers phone number. The text will not be sent from your phone number so they will need to look out for an 800 number. If you enroll in messages you can see what that number is and use it as your verified business number. Itโ€™s actually very resourceful. But may be a bit confusing.๐Ÿซค

I spoke to my friend who told me that long ago, he said that the issue is sometimes people have opted to not receive messages from Square. And in that case, they would never know that I sent the estimate or invoice. so that is something to be careful of.

@MiSo can you please explain what you mean about that last part? About using messaging and knowing the number?
