Is there a way to restrict customers from redeeming loyalty points on items that are already discounted or on sale? If we place an item on sale/discounted price in our online sale, we do not want a customer to then be able to also use their loyalty points for an additional discount. There needs to be a way to restrict double discounts with loyalty points.

@villagebeer My answer is based upon this assumption — that you actually manually discount the amount of the item(s) rather than apply an automatic discount.
If that is the case, you can edit your loyalty rewards section to ONLY discount the items you have in that list, and exclude the already discounted items from the list. However, if you have hundreds of items (or more!) then this will be cumbersome, at best. And every time you change prices, you will have to add/remove items from your loyalty reward list.
An alternative, which is only slightly less cumbersome, would be to change the category of the discounted items to something like “Discounted Items.” Then you can exclude the category “Discounted Items” from your loyalty rewards. You just have to remember to change the category back when you increase the price back.
Not an ideal solution. But maybe workable while you make a feature request to Square here? https://www.sellercommunity.com/t5/Feature-Requests/ct-p/Beta-Feature-Requests
