Loyalty Reward not reflected on customer bank statement

A customer showed us his bank statement for a recent purchase in which he used a loyalty reward. Our transaction report shows that he bought $16.97 worth of merchandise and used a $15 loyalty reward, so that with tax, we collected $2.17. He paid with a debit card. His bank statement showed that the full $18.40 was deducted from his account. His bank is TD Bank. He called and they confirmed the full amount had been deducted from his account.

 

Has anyone else encountered this problem?
