Loyalty Redeem option not working within a customer account at the POS Register

Hi, we have recently established the Loyalty programme for our customers, and we now have customers who have earned sufficient points to redeem for a free coffee or cake. However, at the POS (Square Register) we are unable to select the redeem option within the customer account which would then allocate the points and reduce the amount the customer has to then pay (i.e. the balance). So, we then had to manually remove the points used from the customer's account but this then this left the payment of the bill on the till as unpaid, so we then had to do a manual credit to remove this value from the system.

Having read the various issues others have had with the Loyalty scheme and everything Square has published that I could find on the Loyalty programme, this should all be an automatic process, not a manual one. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to why this is not working. 

PS I would advise we run 2 Square Systems, Restaurant Plus and Retail Plus in the two parts of our business, and within the Retail Plus system, we can redeem points earned by clicking on the option to be redeemed and this does remove the points and adjusts the value the customer has to pay. It is only within the Restaurants Plus we are having the redeem problem.
