I just imported customers from another system. I created a field "Opted-In" and to update all

I imported my customers from a CRM system. I only selected customers who have opted in to receive emails. I created a custom toggle field in my directory "Opted-In" and would like to bulk update the field to yes. I can't find any bulk-update facility. Is there one, or do I need to update all my imported customers one-by-one?

The way I'd do this is, is to export all of your customers from Square to CSV and bulk update there. This gives you the native data structure Square uses for each customer and should allow you to mass configure your opted-in column by re-importing the data.

1. Square Dashboard > Customers > Customer directory > Directory
2. Import/Export > Export customers 
3. Open the exported CSV and add or edit the column for ‘Opted-In’ 
4. Set the value to TRUE for each relevant entry in that column
5. Go back to Customers > Customer directory > Import customers
6. Upload your edited CSV
7. Map your ‘Opted-In’ column to the ‘Opted-In’ custom field, then import 

Just be careful with your data too. When you import a CSV into Customer Directory, any fields included in the CSV that differ from what’s already in Square can overwrite existing customer info. So only include columns you actually want to update, and keep a backup copy of your original export before re-importing in case something goes wrong.

Once you've imported successfully:

1. Open a couple of customer profiles
2. Confirm the ‘Opted-In’ custom toggle is on
3. Confirm the email address is present and the profile looks eligible for your campaigns (and aligns with your consent records)
