Guest re-subscribe to email marketing

I have a few guests who unsubscribed to email marketing and for the life of me I can't get them subbed again. They joined one of our subscription clubs and I want to be able to communicate with them within square instead of mailchimp. I have tried the following:

 

  • Export customer directory, change unsubscribed status to subscribed, import customers
  • Export customer directory, change unsubscribed status to unknown, import customers
  • Re-sign up to the email marketing option page
  • Login to square profile page and check to see if offers and updates is checked (it is)
  • Manage preferences via receipt, which takes them to the same profile page mentioned abov

What has worked (literally as I drafted this message up), but I'm not sure what the ramifications of this is for our guests:

  • Login to square profile, uncheck offers and updates (which gives an alert), and checking it back on. But does this make it so any business they turned notifications off for would now be turned on?

Hello @OverflowTaps thanks for your post. Check out below for a Best Answer for this question. The easiest way is for your customer to go into their online Square profile (through their receipt link) and manage their preferences to resubscribe.
