Exclude Items from earning points when they are part of a multi-item discount

Hi, I'm using the basic Square Loyalty Program where customers earn one point for every dollar spent. I have some perpetual sales where buying three or more of a specific item triggers a discount.

I'd like to exclude items from earning loyalty points only when they are part of a multi-item discount. Is there a way to set this up?

I don't believe there is a way to set that up unfortunately.

The current loyalty system does not allow exclusions I'm afraid. It may be something worth suggesting as a feature in the feedback and feature request links in the menu above. I think a good function

Hi there @HAD.. This is currently not possible with Square Loyalty.  You can submit a feature request to the loyalty team by clicking on "Feedback" in the Community menu bar and selecting "Feature Requests."

@TheRealChipA @doc_choc @alexandriak thank you for your reply and suggestions.  Is there a SQUARE staff member that can officially answer this question, or suggest a workaround? My store currently has about 8 or 9 multi-item discounts setup and would be a nightmare to manually exclude related spending for each loyalty customers from earning points.  If a workaround is not at all possible, could someone suggest a third party loyalty app. that may have this feature.  thank you for your help.

@HAD All three of us are Square Champions with many years of combined experience in the Square ecosystem.  This Community is a seller-to-seller community and, as such, Square employees have limited interactions here.  I will tag the Square Moderators, but there is no doubt that they will reply with exactly the same conclusion as we already have.  I know that a few people have submitted feature requests for exactly this sort of functionality that you are requesting.  I also know that, to date, the loyalty team has not moved on those requests.  Now....

To you question about third-party apps.... here is a link to the results of my search for loyalty apps in the Square App Marketplace.  As you'll see, there are a few of those available.  You'd need to research those and hopefully sign up for free trials for promising ones that offer a trial.

Good luck.

I will just add that this should be a feature. We should be able to exclude items that already have coupons applied to them.

As far as a workaround, and I should have mentioned this in my initial reply. There is kind of. What you'll need to do is manually apply whatever your discount is to the items it would apply to, and then subtract their points from their account after the transaction. This is what we currently do. It's not the best option and honestly I typically don't even subtract the points. I look at it as a surprise and delight moment for the next time they come back.
