Does Square restrict data processing to specific regions?

The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Data Processing Region Restriction.

How do we restrict data processing to specific regions as required by law in those regions?

For example:

US customers data stays on US region servers and is utilized only by US staff.

UK customers data stays on UK servers and is utilized only by UK staff.

Thanks for your question, @2309icv9ub34u9.

Currently, Square systems are hosted in the United States. While we don't offer region-specific data storage options (such as keeping UK customer data stored exclusively on UK servers), we do have robust data handling practices in place that comply with applicable laws in all of the regions where we operate.

Here's what you should know about Square's data processing:

Data Storage Location: All Square systems and data are hosted in the United States, regardless of where the customer or transaction is located.

Data Handling Compliance: While data is physically stored in the US, Square complies with regional data protection regulations such as GDPR in Europe, the Privacy Act in Australia, and various state and federal laws in the US.

Support Team Access: Our Support teams are located in various regions globally and access to customer data is based on business need rather than geographic location. All team members, regardless of location, are bound by strict confidentiality and data protection requirements.

Our Privacy Notice: For more detailed information about our data handling practices, you can review our Privacy Notice which outlines how we collect and protect Seller and customer information.

If you have specific regulatory requirements for your industry that necessitate particular data handling procedures (such as healthcare), I'd recommend consulting with a legal advisor about how Square's data processing practices align with those requirements
