Commercial Customers

Hey there! I run a bakery that is mostly pre-order. I sell to the general public, but I also have commercial customers. Whenever I add a commercial customer to my database, there is no way to add the business name as the contact source. I always have to enter a first and last name. I have been just putting the business name in the first and last name fields, but can we create a way to choose whether our customer is an individual or a business? I appreciate having a point of contact, but sometimes on the fly, it's hard to remember who that is when all I want is to pull up the business.

Hi @CheesecakeLady, thanks for reaching out!

Just so I’m understanding correctly, are you looking to add a business customer to your Customer Directory for your own reference, without needing advanced functionality like sending purchase orders or managing business accounts?

If so, you're right that the current setup of the Customer Directory is geared more toward individual customers. Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to customise the default profile fields (like replacing "first" and "last name" with a business name). So your current workaround, entering the business name in those name fields, is the best option for now.

That said, you should still be able to search for the business name if it's saved in either the first or last name field, which can help when looking them up later.

If I’ve misunderstood what you're trying to do, feel free to share more details! Otherwise, this sounds like a great suggestion for our Product Team, and I'd encourage you to submit it via the Feature Requests Board!
