For years I have offered the following coupon codes to my clients:
If they spend $60+, they can use a coupon to get $5 off.
If they spend $90+, they can use a coupon to get $10 off.
If they spend $120+, they can use a coupon to get $15 off.
It appears that the option to create coupon codes for "Orders Over a Certain Amount" is missing. This is a serious issue for my business and needs to be rectified. Please let me know what we need to do get this sent to those in charge to correct this issue.
Hi @jehedges and @JTPets, thanks for your patience here ! The product team got back to me and was able to provide more information.
To confirm, here are the features that will be migrated over from Square Online Coupon to Marketing:
For sellers using the full features of Square Online coupons, the transition to Marketing will be postponed until these features are available. Meaning that until then, you can keep using Square Online to manage your coupons and create new ones.
Once the migration has happened:
I hope this is helpful. There are additional details about the transition in this thread, but let me know if you have any questions 🙂.
I am struggling with the same issues of new coupons system not meeting the same needs as the old. I am very hopeful that this is corrected.
For the time being I am aware that I can create coupons in the old system.
Thank you for being another voice on this issue! Hopefully the teams can get some traction on this, it is a terrible migration if migration means losing features!
Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Are you currently using coupons for in-person or online orders?
A possible workaround might be setting up a discount with a minimum spend requirement. (See the image below for guidance.)
Online And in person. Work around ideas are great but not breaking things that work would be the goal here....
Plus the discounts don’t work as coupon codes for online ordering. Why are we suggesting work arounds instead of a smooth transition of offering Square customers the same if not more flexibility & options instead of less.
My customers purchase online & in person. I know how to apply in person discounts. Im talking about Coupon Codes. As mentioned in my post, my coupon codes are setup to work with the “Orders Over a Certain Amount”. However that is NOT an option on the new marketing coupons page. I have investment in flyers that will be obsolete if this is not corrected & it will negatively impact my business as customers use the coupons frequently.
We are doing our grand opening now with coupons printed for $10 off $50 with a promo code and 15% of any order with a promo code...limit 1 use each.
None of this can be done with the new system @RobynR - This is why we are frustrated. You give us features, we build our business around them and then someone comes along and say "MANDATORY CHANGE HAPPENING WE BROKE THIGNS NO CHOICE FOR YOU'
Yes, 100% agree with what you have written. We have hundreds of pre-printed flyers with our discount coupon code printed on them that will now be obsolete if this situation is not rectified and I know I’m not the only person.
The good news is i think you can still use online to make coupons today, but not sure how long this will last
Wouldn’t it be better news if we could continue making coupons as we currently are without losing any functionality with the new system? I’m afraid that when they finally transferred over to the current system that we are going to lose the functionality on those coupon codes.
Have we received any updates from the Advanced Support Team?
Have we received any updates from the Advanced Support Team?
They have removed all incentives for our clients to spend more money with us by removing the threshold of requiring a minimum purchase.
I'm assuming you created this coupon from Square Marketing @JTPets ? Have you tried deleting the coupon and re-creating it ? Let me know If this still doesn't solve the issue, I'll send you a private message to take a closer look into this.
The functions needed to create that coupon no longer exist
@JTPets are you able to create a new coupon in Square Online ?
@Lou8, I know you were speaking to @JTPets, but for me, the option to create a coupon for a dollar amount off once a customer spends a specified amount is no longer available.
(I have a screenshot but chat will not let me upload.)
This means that I no longer have the ability to incentivize my customers to spend more money so they hit thresholds to earn money off of their sales. As mentioned in my original post, I have codes that I have had for years that are printed on my marketing materials that encourage and incentivize customers to spend more money:
Spend $60 - coupon gets you $5 off.
Spend $90 - coupon gets $10 off.
Spend $120 - coupon gets you $15 off.
Those options are no longer available. This hurts me as a business and hurts Square in the long run because it means my customers will be spending less money, as there is no incentive to buy more to save. I will have the hard cost of having all of my marketing materials reprinted if this is not resolved.
I have been a very happy Square customer for NINE YEARS. I hope this can be resolved. Julie
@jehedges, I understand your frustration.
I know the new Coupon creation flow offers restricted features compared to Square Online Coupons at the moment. There have been some recent updates about the Coupons migration on this thread and some features should soon be added to Square Marketing (ex. restrict a coupon to sales over a certain amount ).
As mentionned, I've reached out to the relevant team to confirm a few things, and I'll get back to you and @JTPets once I have an update.
You're the best! Thanks for the update! 😍
