I enacted the Square Loyalty program a number of months ago. It is going well so far and Loyalty customers account for over 10% of sales.
My program is set up for guests to spend $100 and get a free taco. I am just wondering if I should adapt the program in a different way to get maximum value. Any feedback is appreciated.
Hello @PointBreakTacos thanks for your post. I love talking about Square Loyalty programs! I use one myself in my business and I'm always trying to figure out how to tweak it to get the best results. A few things to think about with your loyalty program. First, there is an option to give extra points or stars (rewards) to a customer giving you their email address. Have you set this up? This will help your customers get to a reward faster, and also give you more data for your business to help reach your customers with Square Marketing (for emails etc.)
I have my loyalty program structured into several tiers, so they can earn rewards and redeem them at different levels. For example, they can redeem 3 stars for a reward, or save them and redeem 5 stars (or 7 or ten) for other rewards that increase in value. Some of my customers redeem right away while others tend to save them. You may want to consider offering a lesser reward at $25 or $50 level; this would reward customers with "less patience" lol and keep them interested in your loyalty program. They would still have the option to save them to redeem a better reward for the $100 amount.
Just a thought, I've found the best results in offering different levels of rewards to match the different spending patterns of my customers. I have shoppers that come in monthly, while some on visit a few times a year. I have a gift shop so the frequency of visitors to your restaurant is probably more often than my customers.
I have kept the reward program pretty basic and it is getting pretty active. I used to have it at spend $100 and get a free taco. Now I have taken the lead from El Pollo Loco and it's simply "Spend $50 and get $5 off." This is obviously more cost involved for me but it's getting people engaged and my Loyalty Customers spend more per visit. I am thinking about having another tier at $100 that gives $11 off but not really sure that it matters.
My Loyalty Customers spend a bit over $10 more and visit 2.5 times while non-loyalty visit 1.8. The end goal being more visits by more people. naturally.
