Baby registry? Any gift registry?

Hi! This product update would be a huge game changer. In the meantime, I’ve found multiple and conflicting workarounds. What is the best way to include my boutique on a customer’s registry? And/or is there now a way to do it within Square? The last mentions on this topic were from 2022-ish and going back 10 years to 2016 with requests to add this feature. Thanks!

Thanks so much for reaching out, you’re absolutely right, this is a feature that’s been requested for a long time, and I can see why it would be a game changer for boutiques. At this time, Square doesn’t offer a built-in baby or gift registry feature, and there haven’t been recent updates since the earlier requests you mentioned. I know that’s not the answer you were hoping for, and I appreciate you taking the time to check in. Hopefully this is something we’ll see supported in the future, thanks again for sharing your use case!

What is the best workaround? Don’t mind working with an existing feature as has been mentioned before. I’d appreciate your expert opinion as to which one makes the most sense for me to create a separate “shopping list” so to speak. There were at least 2 suggestions in past comments on the thread. What do you think? Thanks in advance!

Just adding a vote for this as a UK user. Please can we have a gift/baby registry. Have shared our case use previously but we do consultations for things like baby carriers/cloth nappies and people often want to let friends and family purchase or contribute to them. This means we often do the consult, but then they give the details to others and they buy something similar online so we loose the sale and the customer loses the option to come back for support post baby. 

 

We get around this by charging for the consults and offering the amount back as a discount on the purchase, but this only works if the are buying the item themselves. 

 

The one work around we've tried is that the customer checks out with a 100% discount code eg. GiftRegistry and it reserves their stock and gives a total price, then family can use the e-vouchers page or message us to buy items. But this is not automated and it adds additional work for the family members and for me.
