Hiiiiii Seller Community! Hope you're having a wonderful Wednesday. This question was selected on behalf of the Square org, who wishes to learn....
What tasks are the most tiresome and time consuming, but necessary to keep your business running?
Looking forward to hearing and learning from you all โค๏ธ
Bookkeeping!!! I hate it. I've hired bookkeepers but even then it is several hours a week. OHHH and inventory. I hate that too.
Quarterly tax payments. Blech.
Inventory - Making sure we have items in the warehouse and restocking
Ordering Resale Items - a lot of items are out of stock or taking time to find reasonable prices for items
After bookkeeping is marketing. Like just drop off already. You need me. I need you. LOL
Getting sales information out of Square and into Quickbooks Desktop. Being able to generate custom export reports would help.
Do you know you can create custom reports in Square which you can export? Now the custom reports are through templates so they may not be as custom as you like but it could help.

I export Transaction.csv and Items Detail.csv and put them in a folder, Open my excel spreadsheet and hit refresh data, this gets my import file the way I need, after I setup Power Query in excel to format my data for me. the refresh data takes a few seconds. Then I use Transaction Pro Importer to get the newly refreshed data as my source to import my Sales Receipts to QuickBooks. The nice thing about this is I have 2 different 'maps' 1 for Square and 1 for my online store (not through Square) to do both files takes me a few minutes where as before I spent about 45min - 1 hour trying to enter all the data and reformat the sales data on the spreadsheets.
Now my QuickBooks desktop Sales Receipt looks like this:
All this was Imported at once for each sales transaction for that day, this is just one sale. To have Squares Deposit ID, I need to wait till at least the deposit was sent out.
Product photography and everything that goes with it - it's so time consuming!
Have you tried out Square Photo Studio? I would hope it would be helpful here! We're doing a Q&A with their team on the Community soon!
Oh me too! We have so many baked goods that I forget what we don't have good pictures of or the right kinds of pictures so it's a constant battle.
Calculating how much to pay out a Service Provider.
and
Figuring out Quantity On Hand to create a Purchase Order
Creation of digital and in-store description collateral and writing web content.
Constantly having to add my appointments to my Google Calendar because Square no longer syncs with Google Calendar. It is the 1 feature that I still need that I lost when the plans were split up.
Building a costemer base.
hello please how do i get my customer code they reviewed my account and said everythign was good till now am unable to transfer moneyout
Soooooooocial Meeeeedia. I am able to do about 95% of all business activity. From website to sales and all the in-between. Social **bleep** media is my Achilles heal. It's the one thing I lack to maintain consistently and that eats away at me in the back of my head that I should be doing.
I wonder- is there someone that works with you (employee for instance) that is good at taking photos? Perhaps you can offer a stipend for the additional work?

I sort of wish there was. Just me though for right now. The photo/video part I have a good grasp on. It's the more in depth parts of it. (target audience, best time etc). Trying to think outside of the box with things, as you can only post so many bedliners. Trying to or I'd like to gear more toward educational type than just , " Hey look at this bedliner i sprayed. It looks just as good as the last one, just on a Ford and not a Chevy " lol
I second Dina! While I love social media, there are times that I just have other things to do. So I've tasked some of my team to do Instagram stories from time to time. I also want to do take-overs with them so they get to be a part of the community that I've created online.
Canva makes it easy. (once you learn the interface.)
Also CampaignPilot for publishing to many platforms at once.
Washing vases and buckets - we have a dishwasher for small vases but most of our vases donโt fit - yes even with the top drawer taken out or are Polish Lead Crystal.
