What’s the weirdest customer request you’ve ever gotten?

...Because we all have that one story that still makes us blink twice....

 

I'll start...

 

We have an astrologer that books by appointment and she is AMAZING.. trained by Steve Forrest (IFYKY).. she had an appointment with a customer just into the new and "woo woo"... we get these customers a lot- and oftentimes they begin to blur the line between what we offer and professional help (therapy).

 

She wanted the astrologer to read her adult son without him being present and without his consent. Huge 🚩 and way beyond our ethical lines... we refused her.

 

She had a full on tantrum in the shop- she asked our EMPLOYEE to call the store and PRETEND TO BE HER SON so she could get the reading!

 

Of course he said no...

The reauests that I get aren't really as .... red flag as your situation.  I just tend to get people to want me to Bedline anything and everything.  Which to me isn't really odd given once you continue to do bedliners on trucks day in and day out, it just gets boring.  I've done full vehicles plenty of times, a couple pop up campers, some custom one of prices, but I think the odd one would be the boat I did.  It as just a 14' John boat so it as light, but making sure everything had a good adhesion was key as it as going to be submerged in water all the time. 

 

The coolest one I did was when a customer from NYC came up in 2018 with a brand new Rubicon at the time. Stripped the whole thing down, adding a lift kit, bedlined it inside and out and put it back together

I don't think we've ever had any weird requests but my hubby has definitely seen his fair share of inappropriate things going into houses for more than two decades....

🤣  There was one lady who was apparently lookin for some some or some kind of voyeur.... he shows up to her house and she's scantily dressed, in a nightie and repeatedly trying to get his attention.  He was like not only NO but he----------------- NO!!!!  He couldn't get his work done fast enough to get out of there!!!

I had a customer at MudFIre accidentally proposition me and offer to pay $$ for a date (I've never seen someone stutter in a text message format before but obviously had me confused with someone they were talking to in DMs). They were so mortified and tried apologizing for months - gave me a large cash tip one day and ended their membership over the awkwardness.

Also had a customer of my former business sneak into my personal private studio before we had the studio business. Back then, I was working solely in selling supplies to potters - and she'd been to my studio because she'd asked about private lessons and I taught her a few times and cut it off having picked up a vibe. So.....................she came in through my gate at my house while I wasn't there an installed a sink and ceiling fan for me. Had to draw some HARD boundaries after that (this was in the days before everyone had a RING camera) and as a result I didn't teach again until we had MudFire.

The weirdest thing we've experienced has just been weird drink combos, like the latest one was a shot of espresso in matcha! 🤢
