What are you building for your business with AI? 🚀

Hey Square community! I’ve been running a pet supply store and needed features Square doesn’t provide out of the box, so I built something myself: a free open-source inventory management suite for Square POS.

It uses automation and AI-style logic to solve real-world problems like:

  • Products expiring without automatic discounts

  • Manual reorder calculations and stockouts

  • Time-consuming cycle counts

  • Vendor pricing/margin tracking

  • Feeding products into Google Shopping

Some highlights:

📦 Inventory Management – Real-time stock dashboards, smart reorder suggestions, days-until-stockout calculations, and purchase order generation.

📅 Expiration & Auto-Discounts – Tracks expiry dates, automatically applies discounts at POS and online, and flags expired stock.

📋 Mobile Cycle Counting – Optimized for phones, smart rotation, variance tracking, and direct sync to Square.

🔍 Catalog & Data Quality – Flags missing images, SKUs, UPCs, categories, and vendor info.

🛒 Google Merchant Center Integration (Work in progress but I have a google sheets proof of concept – Generates feeds, maps brands & taxonomy, and auto-syncs listings.

📊 Vendor Catalog Imports – Upload CSV/XLSX price lists, auto-match by UPC, analyze margins, push updates to Square.

⚙️ Automation & Reliability – Scheduled syncs, automated backups, error alerts, and smart updates.

This is all running on Square for Retail.

Curious to hear: what are you building for your business with AI or automation?

Currently, I'm not building anything in/for Square, however I am looking at AI to make our managerial operations more productive.  We recenlty launched MS Teams for some meetings, and I have been learning Sharepoint the best I can over the last 6 weeks or so.  Thinking about moving most things to the cloud, and using co-pilot to help.

My retail sales are not that strong to take advantage of what you have done, but I must say John, it's QUITE IMPRESSIVE.

I've just launched a table booking system at my Cocktail Bar, today.
It's pretty impressive, although I would say that.

Full table logic, host can manage, assign & move tables.
Guests can book tables, pay deposits & redeem Square Gift Cards to pay them.
Guests can earn square loyalty points for booking.

Every square order is attached automatically in the back end to the guest, so we see how much each guest spends, how much each booking is worth etc. All linked to guest profiles within our own system. We use this data to calculate churn risk (of losing them as a regular customer) and a LTV, lifetime value based on their spending trends.

We then export all of this to Klaviyo.

I've built the entire thing over about 9 months, almost a bit of an obsession with Lovable and Cursor when Lovable has struggled.
I've thoroughly enjoyed every minute, and am learning so much as I go!

Amazing! My big learning in my project was using github for versioning and recovery from a bad AI update.
