Square Kiosk £35/month – Is Restaurants Plus £69/month also required?

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone in the Square Community can clarify something for me, as I’m getting conflicting information from Square’s website and Square Support.

I’m setting up a self-service Square Kiosk for my business in the UK.

When I looked at Square’s UK pricing, it states:

Square Kiosk – £35 per device, per month

The pricing page appears to show Square Kiosk as an add-on alongside the Square for Restaurants Free plan (£0/month). However, when I tried to activate my Kiosk, I received an “Unable to verify subscription” message.

I contacted Square Support by phone, and I was told that I have to subscribe to Square for Restaurants Plus at £69/month in order to use the Kiosk, and that there is no other way.

This would mean I would actually be paying:

£35/month for Kiosk £69/month for Restaurants Plus

£104/month

This is confusing because I cannot find anywhere on the UK pricing page that clearly says Restaurants Plus is mandatory for using the Kiosk.

I have also noticed that Square's UK website says:

“No hidden fees. No long-term contract required.”

I’m not trying to argue with anyone here — I genuinely want to know whether this is how Square Kiosk is supposed to work or whether there is something wrong with my account/setup.

Has anyone else in the UK experienced this?

Specifically:

  1. Are you using Square Kiosk with the £0 Restaurants Free plan?

  2. Do you have a separate £35/month Kiosk subscription without paying £69/month for Restaurants Plus?

  3. Or is Restaurants Plus actually required for Kiosk despite the pricing page suggesting otherwise?

  4. Has anyone else received the “Unable to verify subscription” message when trying to activate Kiosk?

I would really appreciate it if anyone currently using Square Kiosk could let me know what subscriptions you have on your account and what you are paying.

Thanks in advance.
