Special order in store at POS

I've searched but haven't found an answer that works for me. 
I have a brick and mortar bookshop. People need to special order books. I need to handle those orders at the POS but I have not found a way to do that. On the web site I see a way but that isn't really helpful. I need to create an order and pay for that order on the POS then continue on with tracking as on the website. If there is a way to create the order on the site and move over to the pos for payment that would work too.

I think its possible but  its not completely intuitive. 

You can

  • Go to Checkout.
  • Tap Add customer and attach the customer to the sale.
  • Add the book to the cart.
  • If the book is not in your catalog yet, use either:
    • a custom item/custom amount, or
    • create the item first if you want inventory/vendor tracking.
  • Tap Check out.
  • Tap the ••• menu and choose a fulfillment method: Pickup.
  • Add pickup details: customer, pickup time/date, location, and notes such as ISBN, title, edition, supplier, etc.
  • Save the fulfillment details.
  • Take payment through the POS.

 

Make sure that order creation is on for the Square POS at More → Settings → Orders → Order creation → Enable order creation in checkout

 

After that you should be able to track the order in Order Manager where can you change the status manually from "In Progress" to "Ready" to "Picked up", etc.
