Regional Australia on Square — the unique challenges

Running Square in regional NSW comes with challenges city businesses don't think about:

Internet reliability. It drops. Square's offline mode has saved us but you need to know its limitations.

Shipping costs. All our stock comes from Sydney/Melbourne. Supplier just raised fuel surcharge to 35%. Square doesn't factor freight into per-item COGS easily.

Customer expectations. Regional customers want personal service AND modern payment options. Square threads that needle well.

Limited staff pool. Small town = small talent pool. Square's simplicity means training new staff takes hours not days.

Tax and compliance. Australian GST, STP, super don't integrate natively. We bridge through Xero.

Any other regional Aussie businesses on Square?

I'm in the US but it's so interesting to hear how different things are for you, halfway around the world.  I'm sure there are so many other things between countries that a lot of us never think of!
