We are now 6 years into owning our Coffee shop and 2 years with 2 locations!
We have said since the beginning that we REFUSE and would NEVER get a TikTok. Well guess what? We made an account about a month and half ago.
We have had to ask ourselves how far are we willing to fight for our business? In this economy/currrent world we can't just sit back and hope people walk in the doors while doing nothing about it.
Wild thing is we actually are truly enjoying it and it has positively impacted our business!
So what was your thing you said you would never do in business and ended up doing? Did it benefit your business or prove you right by blowing something up?
TikTok is my line in the sand currently.
I can't think of anything else that I said we would never do - because I've always been willing to pivot. The former owners said they'd never teach one-time classes but that is a great income generator for us - so I pivoted from that viewpoint when we took over.
We have kind of gone the other way, we were heavily into SM and felt without it we would wither away, we would never move away from SM. However we are seeing some signs of change in the way people feel about SM and how they interact with it. so time for a change. SM is still big no doubt, but we have pivoted away from the reliance on SM to drive our business taking a more traditional route to marketing and selling instead. We have found this has worked well for us, freed up more time to be more productive with traditional tools and methods which provide a more reliable and dependable return on the investment of time and money.
Being in business for 37 years, I don't think there is anything we said we would never do, we have made several changes. We've embraced all social media, TikTok has helped us quite a bit, we have customers come up to us at fairs and some say they come just because they saw out TikTok's.
Now Tammy has started a Gambling/Travel channel and I am working on the backend doing all her videos and shorts, this venture has really been an eye opener as to how social media works. On Korie's Kloset we already had a customer base so it was pretty easy, but starting a new channel has been a whole new experience, we had no former customer base to build on, but it's building slowly.
