I'm using the square app on an android phone and square card reader. I only use this to take payments, no invoicing or other functions as I have another app to do that. How do I edit the footer that is Square branded and states "TAX INVOICE" when clearly it is not an invoice but a transaction receipt.
Hey @HAH170,
Thanks for getting in touch.
For context, a receipt on Square is just another name for a tax invoice, and we need to display the "Tax Invoice" wording in accordance with local tax laws.
The words "Tax Invoice" will appear on a receipt if your ABN is registered to collect GST, as required by Australian rules for Tax Invoices.
Hope this helps clear things up! You may also provide your customers with separate receipts / tax invoices, however as a card payment processor Square is also required to supply receipts/tax invoices that comply with relevant regulations.
I know this is an old thread, but I have the same issue. I have an ABN, however I am not registered for GST, therefore I cannot issue a "TAX INVOICE".
I just purchased a Square Terminal and upon testing I see that it prints out a "TAX INVOICE" which for me is illegal.
Can this be turned off?
Hi, @pookie1961, while you can edit your receipts in your online Square Dashboard, you're unable to remove the "Tax Invoice" wording at the bottom of the receipt.
I've not personally come across this issue for Australian Sellers who have signed up with an ABN before, so you might be better reaching out to our Support Team here as they'll be able to look at your Square Account and ABN details in further detail.
