How do I get the category image to show

I have set a category image in the back end of the free square online store but even the the site is published the category image showing remains the first variant for the category not the category image... how do I get the category image to show.

Categories - unfortunately, have not been enabled by Square to accommodate the showing of an image selected for categories. Only variants show images. This is a LONG standing request, going on many years now. Hopefully, your new post will bring this request - that really should have been implemented from the get-go - back to the fore for implementation.

I wish they would take out the option to add a category image in the back end  then...I wasted hours trying to figure out why it wouldn't show in the front end 😞

Sort of came up with a work around by adding the category image ie a group shot of all variants to the top of the item images...that way it shows up as the category image.

If you're still wondering how to do this, I've figured out a bit of a work-around:

1. Create a category called "Item Categories" or something similar of your choosing
2. Individually edit each item category so that they fall under it as a sub-category, and add your desired images to each
3. In the website editor, select the "Item Categories" page (or whatever you've named it) and hit the little cog icon to access the "Visit page settings" option
4. From there, toggle on "Redirect other URL's to this page"
5. In the box below, add in the URL for your website's "Shop All" page

Now, when someone hits shop all, they'll be brought to the "Item Categories" page, and they will see all your category images, each linked to their associated list of products/items. BAM!
