Does your business have its own mobile app? Why or why not?

Hey everyone 👋 — I’m curious to hear how other Square sellers are handling mobile in their businesses.

Do you use a dedicated mobile app for your customers to order ahead, delivery, track loyalty, or interact with your business?

If so:

  • What service are you using?

  • What do you love most about it?

  • What’s your biggest frustration?

As a Square super seller running a fast-growing food business, I eventually hit a wall with the limitations of generic mobile app ordering tools—especially around branding, loyalty, and control over the user experience. So I decided to build Gegsy, a fully white-labeled native app platform designed for Square sellers by a Square seller. We are also proudly listed in the Square App Marketplace as a trusted partner.

Whether you're in food & beverage or retail, Gegsy lets you launch your own branded iOS/Android app fully integrated with your Square catalog, payments, loyalty program, and more—no coding required.

📱If you're interested in trying it out, I'm offering 2 months free to any fellow seller in this community. Just use code SQUARECOMMUNITY when signing up.

Let me know below—are native apps worth it for small businesses in 2025? I’d love to hear your experience.

I love the idea of apps for shops and restaurants.  I myself use apps for almost all my shopping.  Once I finish revamping my website, I might look into this app program.  Thanks so much for letting us know about it.

Very cool! Thanks for sharing this.

My business is primarily appointments-based, but I am working on growing my retail line so maybe there would be an opportunity to create an app that better integrates loyalty, push notifications when sales happen, etc while still keeping the Square Online website + Square Inventory in one place.

Do you have any businesses who have utilized it for retail?

@Bronze_Palms @We have not had anyone sign up for retail, but if you offer pickup and/or delivery it would work just the same as it is product agnostic. What we don’t have the ability to ship - not sure if that is something that you currently offer.

The app is completely synced with square for loyalty, orders come straight into your POS just like with your square online store, you can offer special incentives for using the app, coupons, etc. it’s really an extension of your square online store.

We’d love to chat if you see a use case for your business. Send us a PM.

We don't have an app and I'm not an app user.. if we could make it robust and have a benefit to pushing customers there then maybe ... but literally don't have the bandwidth AND I wouldn't want it to just be a mirror of what we already had.

Now- if we could build an app of spells and knowledge- that would be awesome.. like a repository of everything we taught? But again.... who has that kind of time.

WE've had an app for 5 or 6 years now, I built our first app and I have to say it was pretty much just a packaged up website in a mobile app, several years ago we went with CommentSold and now we sell live directly through the app, we also can send push notifications for coupons and sales.

This is something I've thought of, but not sure if it would benefit us enough. I think a mobile version of our website would be as good.

We use Orda and have been very happy with it.  For a small regional smoothie chain, we've received 205,000 downloads.

We're a small town, service based company.  We don't do anything digital because there are too many barriers to using an app or other digital services.  We do not have employees and live in a town of less than 2k people.  Our service area is the entire southwest area of the state, all of which are rural, low population areas, except for two major towns in the mix.

If we had 100 techs out in the field, I could see using some digital tools to help us schedule and track things but some weeks our phone only rings a few times.  It just doesn't benefit us.

Thankfully as a coffee shop we didn’t feel we needed anything crazy and that Square’s online ordering was perfect for us!

We just encourage our customers to make

the online ordering site an icon on their homescreen which ends up looking like a little app and they can click it and boom! They are there and it connects easily to

the square loyalty.
