Can't connect to Square reader

I am trying to connect my Square Reader to an Optus X Start 3 Smart phone (https://ztemobiles.com.au/optus-x-start-3/)

But I cannot seem to get it to connect?
The phone and the reader are both brand new from Officeworks. I have tried doing a hard reset on the reader and it came up asking to allow the pairing (twice). I tapped pair but then said failed to connect.

Anyone else had any success or issues with this combination?

Solution

Hi there @pp23,

Thanks for reaching out to us with your question!

For starters, it's a good idea to verify if the mobile device you're using is compatible with Square apps and hardware. I'm not particularly familiar with the Optus X Start 3 smartphone, but a brief search on our Compatibility Page doesn't show it in the current list.

It's worth noting that device support can evolve over time. Our engineers are consistently testing new devices entering the market, and compatibility status may change in the future. As of now, though, to continue using Square seamlessly, it's essential to make sure your device is among those listed on our compatibility page. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to let us know!

I'm having the same issue after the Reader updated its software. Did you find a solution?
