CArd reader wont sync with Huwawi p20 lite phone

  i Have recently took delivery of my Square reader and have tried endlessly to get it to sync via Bluetooth to my Huwawi P20Lite phone (all other blue tooth devces work including my old izettle reader.

I contacted my phne supplier they rriedand also failed can you advise how i get support or get the suspect Card reader replaced please .

Ps i fillow the installation process on the app and it sees to work bt then never comppletes either hangs or complanis thats deveoper settings are turnend n which my phine provider assures me has been turned off by me and them any help appreciated !

Hi @Robdonnelly, sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue! Since you are getting a message about the developer settings, please try running through the troubleshooting steps outlined here. We will need to make sure that the developer options are completely turned off. To turn off developer options:

  1. Navigate to Settings section of your device > Developer Options
  2. Toggle Developer Options off.

If you can’t see the Developer Options menu:

  1. Tap About Device
  2. Tap Build Number 7 times > you will see a prompt on the screen indicating developer options are enabled
  3. Tap the back arrow to navigate back to Settings
  4. Tap Developer Options > toggle Developer Options OFF.

If you are using a Huawei device, you can also try:

  1. Go to the Settings of your Huawei device
  2. Tap on More Settings
  3. Disable the button Allow Hisuite to use HDB.

Once that's done, please try running through these steps:

  1. Make sure the Square Point of Sale app and the operating software is up to date
  2. Forget the reader from the device's Bluetooth setting
  3. Turn the Bluetooth off and back on
  4. Hard reset of reader -- hold button for around 20 seconds, wait for lights to turn orange, then red, then release the button when all the lights have stop flashing
  5. Go back into the Square app > Settings > Card readers > Connect a reader and follow the prompt
