Social Media:  How do you get clients to leave reviews or promote your business on social?

These days most relationships start online.  What is your best tip to get clients to leave reviews or promote your business online (IG stories, posts, TikToks, etc)?

I offer a free upgrade (costs me .80) if they check in on social media when they walk in. During check out, I offer them a free upgrade on their next tan if they leave a review before they leave the building.

I have been pretty fortunate. My clients will leave a review on my Facebook page or my Square page when they get their receipt via text.  I rarely have to ask them to do so, they are quick to do it on their own.  I am sure if I asked them too, while they are in the chair, they would leave a review. I love the selfie wall idea!  What a great way to get the clients involved!

After building a relationship with them, I simply ask them if they would be open to sharing a review about their experience, because it helps others and me to grow my business. If you have Google business page there is a link you can send them as well as asking for them for reviews for your website or to share on IG, facebook, etc. Unfortunately my Facebook got hacked along with my business page. Not sure if I will ever be able to recover it.

That's really unfortunate, @thesunnyside. It looks like Facebook has a dedicated support path to use if your Facebook account was hacked. If you haven't used that yet, I would use that so they can help you regain access.

I tried this way and it isn't working. It is unfortunate that Facebook doesn't have customer service.

Make sure you always get your clients email addresses put into the system. Every now and then I send out marketing emails with any important updates, and the last paragraph of my email always reads

“Quality is of the utmost importance to us and we hope that you always leave 100% satisfied. If you feel we deserve it, please let others know about us by leaving a review online. If for some reason you are unhappy with a service you received, please email us directly and allow us the opportunity to rectify the situation, we never want a client to feel they were given less than 100%. As always, thank you for supporting small business!”

If a client is pleased with your services, ask him or her to leave a review. You can also allow clients to earn discounts on future orders by leaving reviews themselves. The main risk with automated email marketing is that reviews can be placed on your profile that are both negative and undeserved. You need to make sure your business is providing excellent customer service, as this will result in many reviews anyway, and you may post these as social proof on your profile page. I have 6 small businesses and i do small business marketing myself as well.
