Hi @Vasile17.  I would not count on that at all.  Yes, you can pay off a loan early any time.  But once you do, no new offers will even be considered by the algorithm for 7-10 business days while that processes.  Also, in case you don’t know, new loan offers are coming much later and have been for the past year or two.  Most people I know are waiting until 90+% before offers come, with many not receiving new offers until their existing loans are paid off.  The point it, in this lending market which is very tight and conservative (and the national financial picture took a really bad hit in the past week, especially today) just remember you are rolling the dice by paying your existing loan off.  Better to do that with your eyes wide open.

Do you mean by paying it off early? Or by closing it and having Square take the amount due out which could be taken at all at once. That's considered a default on a loan agreement and just like anything else if you don't pay it they can take action to collect on the debt. I would highly suggest if that's what you mean contact them first and see if you can work something out. That's a default and I can't say you would never get another offer but I would guess it wouldn't be anytime soon. I guess it is which one you mean. Good luck and if you need anything else please let me know

Oh, yes definitely but like @TheRealChipA said it's not an overnight type of thing. Depending on when you pay it off its 10 business days to clear and then you go back into the algorithm. You scared 😱 me I thought you meant default on it. Paying it off early is a good thing but it does take some time to process and clear everything.

I paid the balance of our loan off on 3/6/25.  It has been finalized for days, and like mentioned by TheREALChipA, Square has not updated our eligibility to receive a new loan.  So it isn't guaranteed.

@REG2k It is definitely not guaranteed.  New loan offers are never guaranteed, nor are they guarantee to come on any time schedule.  It seems you read my post and understood it, but for everyone else the current situation seems to be that new loan offers are coming much later than they ever have in the past.  The reasons are more than obvious to anyone who reads at least the headlines of new stories, even if they don’t read actual news.  The lending market is very tight.  Contrary to promises made to win recent US elections, the market is getting tighter and more conservative.  It’s looking like a recession is being forced upon the US which will only make the lending market tighter and more conservative.  Do not count on loan offers — not only from Square but from anyone.  They would be crazy to keep making loan offers at the rates they used to.  Buckle up, folks.  This year is shaping up to be bumpy and frustrating, indeed.  I’m sorry to be the realist here, but it is what it is.

I’ll add one other thing here, personally.  I have a plan in place to pay off all credit balances that I have.  Personally, I don’t trust what is coming and I’m not going to be caught by surprise.  I recently lost a key employee and instead of replacing them, I’ve decided that my priority is to take that money I would have spent on a new person and use it to retire most, if not all, of my debt.  That way I won’t care what happens when interest rates go up and credit evaporates for the average small business owner.  Sad, but true.

I believe they will lower the interest rates tomorrow to make up for the tariffs

Mine once cleared and set it still took 2 days to totally clear out of everything. Mine was longer than the 10 business days add in a federal holiday and I did it on a Saturday so I hit 2 weekends ugh. But, once it was all done and cleared everything I believe it was around 2 weeks for myself for a new offer. I don’t take or accept every offer though.

Did it give you the gliding scale? I’m just throwing out a number of they offered you 20k max but you slide it down to say 15k-12k the rate goes down usually.  Or was the 15.9 % the lowest? If so then that’s your offer and terms of it. Unfortunately, rates are high now. And sometimes you have great customers who pay their loans off or accept another offer prior to that. But we also see those who default on loans and that doesn’t help us who pay our loans. Even my little credit union has raised their rates on loans especially with businesses. I was pretty fortunate that I got a LOC in 2019 and the rate was 7.25 % for a sizable LOC. But no unfortunately, you can’t negotiate what is set on your offer. Just the above that I mentioned.

Ohh I understand now! I was taking the max line they offered me but in my understanding if I don't take the maximum and say just 50% of what they offer in that case the rate might be lower?!

Thanks for posting on the Seller Community.

Keep in mind once the payment has been submitted, it can take up to ten business days for payment confirmation and for your business to be re-evaluated for a new offer.

Eligibility and offers are based on a variety of factors including payment processing volume, account history, and payment frequency.

If you’re eligible to apply for a Square loan, you can do so in your Square Dashboard.

Quick update!

We closed the 90% of the loan with an early payment and $10 000+ weekly sales. 9 days later we have another offer! While I understand that this is not guaranteed for everyone and could certainly say that because these loans are approved by the computer it is vital to show very good STATS and increased sales year over year!

@Vasile17 Congrats.  And thanks for that last statement.  I’m constantly having to remind folks that having the same card processing as last year is not good enough.  With rising costs, having static sales means we are losing money in the long run.  Figure out how to get that card processing on a steady upward trajectory!
