I deposited a check on the 1st , being it was from a large organization , Catholic Charities , it should not take very long to clear. The customer is in a hurry to start and our policy is that custom material can not be ordered until payment clears. So how long does it generally take.

Check deposits depend on multiple variables. The issuing bank has to verify funds and give approval, which can take anywhere from 1-5 business days. Square Checking's official stance is 1-7 business days. As you deposit more checks, your hold time will go down. I have one regular check I deposit that shows in my account within 2 hours of deposit.
That's a roundabout way of saying expect 1-3 business days, possibly up to 5 if the check is for a larger amount.

Have you checked your Square Card balance to see if the payment has already been deposited?
If the link doesn’t take you directly to your Square Card balance, you can check manually by heading to your Square Dashboard:
Balance > View all recent activity and look for any amount that says "Transfer in."

How do I know if a check was approved for processing? I have deposited 2 checks. The first check came back as declined due to a typo in the check amount and resubmitted. Aside from that email, I have only received a email confirming that the deposit was received and is processing (which I received with the first check and then the declined email came through about a hour later). I am used to other banks confirming that the check was also approved/accepted via email just so you know there was no issues with the check not necessarily saying that the check was approved and will clear.. helps for peace of mind..
