Hola Everyone! I'm Karla maker and creater of Highlands Natural. A place for wellness and selfcare. I create home made vegan products to be use at home. I'm just turning 4 years in Sept. and I wanted to see if anyone has an option for wholesale on their store? If so did you create a new domain for only your wholesale customers or did you connect with your online site of your products ( where anyone goes online)? Help please.

Hi @Highlands_N - Welcome back to The Seller Community, it's always nice to see our sellers return with a great inquiry ๐Ÿ˜Š

This sounds like an awesome question for @HC_Charlie who sells both wholesale and retail. I'd love for you two to connect on the matter.

As always, feel free to stop by The Community with question, concerns and even feature requests. We are more than happy to assist. โœจ

Thanks for the connect @Ria would be happy to help @Highlands_N . You can definately sell both retail and wholesale on the same website if you choose. If you'd rather have a whole separate domain name for your wholesale side, then yes you could split everything up. I find it easier to keep together. There are several ways you can do this...

  • Maintain just one "retail" website, and create a special online coupon that you would only give out to your wholesale customers. Let's say your wholesale price is 50% off your retail price, you'd create a 50% off coupon. Then wholesale customers would shop on your same retail site, but checkout with this coupon.
  • If you have separate items you sell retail and wholesale, you can create a wholesale page, and list those items just for wholesale customers. You can even create "wholesale only" items when you create a new item. This is how I handle my wholesale orders, and I have the page password protected so my regular retail customers can't see or shop there. (The only issue I've found with this approach is that the main navigation links appear on the pages of all your website. I would prefer to turn this off for my wholesale pages, but Square does not offer this.)

You could place a wholesale "link" in the navigation menu, or keep the page name "private" and just give the URL website address link to your wholesale customers. I my case, I made my homepage a splash page that offers visitors the choice to click on my Retail Square site, my Wholesale site, or my Etsy site for retail orders.

I think you'll find the best solution if you consider what percentage of your customers (retail vs. wholesale) and how you will be directing traffic to your website. Also keep in mind that you can take advantage of Square Invoices to put together an order for your wholesale customers. If you do physical tradeshows or in-person selling to stores, you could handwrite an order, then create an Invoice to email them for payment prior to delivery or shipping.

I hope this helps with your question. Great to have you in the Square Seller Community and good luck in your wholesale endeavors!

Chasing Our Memories Boutique, we are a group of 5 gals that met crafting and opened a boutique. A few sell there items in our store and we also sell many non hand crafted items. We feel that by having hand crafted items available to sell has added a much needed benefit to our customers and our store. It was a challenge to get all the in and outs with square figured out, but since we have it has worked beautifully. Myla

I started an online fishing store 3 years ago and until last year was using different platforms to sell. I have found square online to be the most user friendly. BUT! I would like to see more drop ship option to link to my store. I make most of my products, but I'm trying to branch out. I would love to get in touch a rod maker or other lure makers.

So i'm completely new to using Square as a business website. I started making candles and wax melts as a hobby when the covid 19 pandemic started, of course I was off work for a year due to health issues and was in need of a hobby. Now i'm starting my own business up. So i'm open to any suggestions, advice or pointers.

Hi Sheilagraham,

Once you get through actually setting up your business - meaning - registering your business name with your state, determining if you are a Sole Proprietorship or LLC, obtaining your Tax ID, etc., then the fun begins with setting up your business website.  Start out simple, setup a few items to see how things work and go from there.  Next, you need to get your site noticed because, just having a site does not mean that sales will follow.  Below are some tips - see what works for you.

* It's important to note that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to getting your website noticed and increasing sales. If there was, we would all be very happy. You need to experiment with different strategies and track your results to determine what works best for your business.

* Social Media Marketing: Social media can be a powerful tool for promoting your website and increasing sales. Creating engaging content and sharing it on social media platforms can help you reach a wider audience and drive more traffic to your site. Start with the basic social media sites, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flicker, Pinterest, Google Maps, Google Places for Business and Yelp - the more you get your name out there the better and you can setup these accounts at little or no cost - it's just your time. Take your time and take lots of product pictures or detailed info about your services if that applies.

* Advertising in your local paper may promote sales too. Cross selling via other sites like Etsy may increase interest even if you just list a few items. Also, check out activities like local Farmer's Markets or other outdoor events (Craft Shows, Art Shows, etc.) that would fit your needs.

* Content Marketing: Creating high-quality content, such as blog posts, videos, and infographics, can help attract and engage potential customers, leading to increased sales. Both Youtube and Vimeo are great for posting product or service videos at little or no cost. All you need is a camera, some thought and a little time.

* Email Marketing: Building an email list and sending targeted campaigns to subscribers can help you stay top of mind with potential customers, leading to increased sales over time. Don't spam people, make sure your list of addresses is composed of people that want to hear from you.

* Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising: PPC advertising allows you to place ads on search engines and other websites, targeting specific keywords and demographics. This can help you reach your target audience and increase sales. Note: It's a challenge to determine your ROI when spending money on advertising - choose wisely.

* Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Optimizing your website for search engines can help improve your website's visibility in search results, leading to more traffic and potential sales. This can involve on-page optimization (optimizing website content, tags, etc.) and off-page optimization (building backlinks, guest posting, etc.).

* Take advantage of Google Webmaster Tools and Bing Webmaster Tools.

* Finally - word of mouth is your best friend - try to friends and family involved - people trust people they know (in most cases) and this type of advertising is FREE.

All the best !

jk

I started a new business in crafting in February, Caterina's Creations. I am excited and apprehensive at the same time.  I enjoy crafting because it eases my anxiety but recently I am anxious thinking if my customers likes the final product.   I am happy to join this group.

Hey there Cbuscemi,

Great to hear you going into business - are your plans to sell online or in person or both ?   Just curious as there are different strategies - there's no ideal solution for marketing and sales as there are a ton of options.  Would like to know more.

At this time, I am selling in person.  I have a fair next weekend too.  I am hesitant to start a website and sell online right now.

Selling in person at events is great fun and provides good exposure to many people.  Selling online is totally different and takes time to get established.  What's nice about selling in person, you can also market your online site too if you decide to try that.  Take your time, as every day is learning experience.

That is the best answer yet.  We have 3 brick and mortar toy stores and online.  We absolutely market online through the brick and mortar stores.

I started last year selling at markets after year's of making just for myself. I make jewelry and was hesitant to start selling online so I waited til this year, partly because my biggest market last year during Christmas had so many people who were interested but unable to buy at that time so would ask about online so they could shop for themselves after Christmas.

I also have a lot of trouble with anxiety so decided to settle in to selling in person first before moving online too and that really helped me with that.
