SendOwl and Square - WHAT A MESS!!

So the advice is to integrate with SendOwl when selling a digital product on Square as Square will allow you to sell a digital product but currently can not actually download the purchased digital item to your customer.

 

My issue today is ignoring the fact that this requires double entry of the item in both SendOwl and Square.

 

My issue today is ignoring the fact that I have to learn and manage two separate systems to sell one product.

 

My issue today is that I am trying to work out who has received emails for their Square order because not everyone has. So I am trying to reconcile the sales between the two systems. And I am wasting SO MUCH time whilst trying to manage really annoyed customers who think I've taken money with no intention of delivering a product. 

 

SendOwl doesn't use the same order number as Square.  It doesn't even reference the Square order number. 

 

SendOwl is generating two, yes 2, emails with separate order numbers and links to the digital item of the product item for every. single. order coming from the Square website. So I have placed 3 orders to test and have received 6 emails from SendOwl with 6 different order numbers and 6 different links for the 3 orders placed on my digital item. 

 

Can I find any information on either Square or SendOwl about this? I can not.

 

Should I be preparing for a class I am teaching to paying customers rather than trying to work out why some customers are getting two links for every one item they buy and others are getting absolutely nothing? Yes I should

 

Am I REALLY quite annoyed about this? You could say that, yes, you possibly could. 

 

Would I recommend Square and SendOwl? No. No, I would not.

I'm not going to be able to offer a solution, or even advice, but I wanted to say that I feel your pain. This is something I'm wanting to do and haven't yet found a way of doing outside of Etsy, which I don't want to use. If bandwidth is an issue, potentially holding a lot of digital files on the server, maybe Square can find a way of allowing us to link cloud space to our accounts?

Thank you. I agree that a link would be better than the current set-up because I am not only trying to work out what on earth is going on but I am also being charged by Square and SendOwl for the pleasure of dealing with this mess. 

 

An external link which we provide in the receipt issued by Square would be a much cleaner and easier option IMHO. That way if the link doesn't work its on us as we manage and own that link. The current set-up requires us to be IT support whenever something goes wrong and that is not my area of expertise making it so much more stressful than it needs to be.
