I’ve been thinking a lot about how our work environment impacts productivity. When I work from home, I love the convenience — no commute, my own snacks, and the ability to stay in comfy clothes. But sometimes the quiet feels too quiet, and I catch myself getting distracted by laundry, dishes, or suddenly deciding I need to reorganize a drawer. On the flip side, working from a coffee shop puts me in “get stuff done” mode — maybe it’s the background hum or just seeing other people working — but I can also get sidetracked people-watching or end up spending way too much on lattes.
For you, where do you find you’re most productive? Do you prefer the focus and control of working at home, or do you thrive with the energy and buzz of a coffee shop (or somewhere else entirely)? Have you found certain types of work are better suited to one environment over the other?
I don't love a home office either - too distracting that other "home" things aren't done like laundry - dishes - art projects - random home repairs. I tunnel in best at my work desk. I feel bad working at a coffee shop for too long because I know smaller places need the table to turn or I feel like I have to keep buying so I save the coffee shop for meeting friends 🙂 but that is just me.
