Setting up Add-On Services for our Wedding Appointments

After waiting for years and never seeing the ability to provide add-on items or modifiers to online appointment booking (only speculating but I suspect these features would undercut sales from performance and consulting services), we finally did a re-think of our logic.

 

By converting items to services and then setting appropriate variances and categories we think we can get customers to book a wedding ceremony package and select add-on services within the same reservation (we'll see how well it works in practice).

 

Since services with time duration set to zero can't be booked online, each add-on service is set to 5 minutes and carefully ordered according to category. Then we set appointments for 30-minute increments and turned on pre-approval before we charge. This way a couple can select up to six additional services and the schedule will block 1/2 hour of additional time on the calendar, which we need to prepare for the next couple anyway.

I just may need to look at this and see what you did and possibly copy if that is ok.  

I REALLY need this add on feature and really don't want to add another app or site for just bookings

I looked at your site and I think i see how you have it setup.   

A question for you is, have you had anyone just select an add-on and not a service too?    Just trying to see if there is any room for error here

Hi,

 

Not yet, but we’re aware that can happen and so we set all charges to be approved by us before we let them go through. That way we can edit the appointment for accuracy, even if they change their mind between their appointment and wedding day.

Okay so I went to through your link and I really like how you have it set up...but I can't understand how you did it.  We have a nail salon and it would make it great if I could place my services into specific categories instead of them listing all services at once.  What's your magic...how did you do this lol? 🙂

Thank you for the kind words! I converted items that had already been assigned to categories, then for our POS machine at the shop I put matching items back in. Hope that helps.

Anecdotally it seems to be working well so far, bookings have been strong and couples are selecting more services when they book. As the only venue in our local market to offer online booking and one-stop wedding planning, even in the micro wedding space it's a real differentiator.
