Send SMS option is no longer available

When going to Customer details and click on the phone number currently options are 

1. "Send message" (with Square messaging)

2. "Copy phone number".

In previous versions there was an option to "Send SMS" that it was removed in new version of the app.

When clicked on "Send SMS" it opened messaging app (iMessage) directly to the chat with that number and it was very convenient.

We prefer and use our own messaging to communicate with customers. 

 

Is there any reasons why it was removed?

Is it possible, or any plans to add it back?

 

On latest iOS, latest Square Appointments app

 

To be honest It looks like a "manufactured inconvenience" to push people to buy Square Messaging subscription instead of using our own messaging methods.

  1. How to Send SMS:

    • Instead of clicking the three dots next to the phone number, try clicking directly on the client’s name in the Customer Details. From there, click on the phone number, and you should see the option to send an SMS text. This method allows you to use your messaging app (like iMessage) to communicate with your clients directly.
  2. Reason for Changes:

    • While the previous "Send SMS" feature was convenient, Square may have removed it to promote the use of their own messaging services. This change can feel limiting, but it aligns with their focus on integrating features within their ecosystem.
  3. Feedback and Future Updates:

    • If this new setup doesn’t work for you, consider submitting feedback directly to Square. They often take user input into account for future updates, and your suggestion could influence their decisions.
